    Position Scope

    Site: Based out of Ruth Lake but will provide regional support

    Shift: 9 days on 5 days off - 12 hour days

    Living Out Allowance: Provided


    • Coordinate and deliver Equipment Maintenance training including:
      • Competency evaluations on equipment maintenance personnel such as heavy equipment technicians, tire technicians, service persons, steamers, labourers, medium and automotive equipment technicians.
      • Technical training on engines, hydraulic systems, tier 4 systems, etc.
      • Safety and specialty equipment training (rigging, overhead cranes, picker truck, bucket truck, gantry cranes)
      • Equipment operations training on skid steers, wheel loaders, fork lifts, tire manipulators and mining equipment.
    • Provide mentoring and coaching to equipment maintenance personnel on an ongoing basis by having a large field presence.
    • Provide training and testing to equipment maintenance personnel with a focus on safety and production. (Field and classroom training).
    • Take part in the development of SOPs applicable to Equipment Maintenance.
    • Know and disseminate applicable SOPs to Equipment Maintenance personnel.
    • Understand and utilize the LMS for delivery, record keeping and reports pertaining to Equipment Maintenance training.
    • Keep organized and up to date training records in the LMS on each Equipment Maintenance employee.
    • Make progress reports available to applicable supervisors and managers.
    • Research equipment maintenance related issues through OEM, Dealer, internet and other sources to enhance the Equipment Maintenance training initiatives.
    • Develop and maintain pertinent training information regarding safe work and production techniques.
    • Provide recommendations to management regarding changes for improved operation, safety and production techniques.


    • 10+ years’ experience in the construction and mining maintenance industry with working knowledge of small component rebuild to mining hydraulic shovels.
    • A combination of 5 years’ supervisory or management experience and experience as a technical trainer, in delivering training or educational programs to adults, or mentoring and training apprentices.
    • 2 years’ experience using operational application software (e.g. enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, service or maintenance systems or programs) or training application software (learning management systems) and experience in Caterpillar, Volvo and Komatsu parts and service information systems.
    • 2 years’ experience and demonstrated knowledge of training program and processes.
    • HET Red Seal Certification is required; multiple trade certifications are an asset.
    • Specialized courses in engines, hydraulics and electrical systems.
    • Train the trainer certificates in overhead crane and rigging, picker truck, bucket truck, forklift, TIA, hydraulic hose press, EWP and fall protection are an asset.
    • Post-secondary education in Business or a related field is an asset.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office application software including PowerPoint and Excel.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills, specifically written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Strong customer service orientation, attitude and training experience within a customer service environment
    • Strong and collaborative ability to use information available to make decisions and act decisively.
    • Exercise independent judgment and initiative within established guidelines.
    • Proven ability to remain objective and calm under pressure.
    • Proven ability to conduct research and find information.
    • Understanding of strategic long term vision.
    • Ability to inspire trust teamwork and high performance.
    • Skilled in listening, coaching and developing teams.
    • Understanding of managing resources and funds for the function.
    • Knowledge of motivational principles and methods and how to provide timely and constructive feedback.
    • Knowledge of ethical issues and legal regulations when dealing with personnel and human resources issues.



    All successful candidates must:

    1. Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
    2. Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
    3. Have experience as requested as mentioned above
    4. Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
      1. Breath Alcohol Test
      2. Urine Drug Test
      3. Fitness-to-Work Assessment
      4. Audiometric Testing
      5. Vision Screening


    Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.


    All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:

    1. OSSA or OSSA (BSO) Certification
    2. CSTS Certification
    3. Copy of Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
    4. Copy of recent Driver’s Abstract
    5. VOID cheque/direct deposit form
