Position Scope

NACG will be at Highland Valley Copper mine doing the following work:

  • Earth Dam Raise
  • Stop cell removal
  • Hydraulic sand placement

 

Shift: 7 days on 7 days off - 11.5 hour days

 

Overtime will only be paid if you work over your regularly scheduled shift of 12 hours, all employees are required to sign an averaging agreement to state that they agree to the overtime rules.

 

Rate: $34.50/hr

 

No CAMP IS PROVIDED. Employees are required to find their own accommodations.

 

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION (until October 31, 2017).

Responsibilities

  • Preventative Maintenance and servicing of all equipment
  • Check equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Trouble shooting systems– example hydraulic, electrical & mechanical of all equipment and determine faults and extent of repair
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
  • Component rebuilds
  • Order parts for the servicing, and rebuild of equipment as required
  • Follow NACG codes of practice and safety procedures
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician ticket (Red Seal)
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • A creative approach to problem solving; adaptability and flexibility
  • Have a concern for safety and awareness of safe working procedures
  • Ability to work alone or as a member of a team with other tradespersons
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • 5 years on the job experience to complement Apprenticeship training program
  • Class 5 Driver's License recommended
  • Familiar with troubleshooting/diagnostic procedures such as SIS, ET, DREX
  • Heavy Construction and or Mining equipment experience required

Summary

All successful candidates should:

  1. Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  2. Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  3. Have experience as requested as mentioned above
  4. Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
    1. Breath Alcohol Test
    2. Urine Drug Test
    3. Fitness-to-Work Assessment
    4. Audiometric Testing
    5. Vision Screening
    6. Criminal Record Check

Shift and start times are subject to change.

 

All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:

  1. CSTS Certification
