Position Scope

The scope of work is for material movement. Mine 4.5 million BCMw and the associated coal, approximately 780,000 BCMrc, out of the E6S2 pit, at the Teck Coal, Fording River Operations site.


Shift: 14 days on 14 days off - 12 hour days


Living Out Allowance: $110/day (non-local employees, greater than 125 km (by road) from Elkford)


Daily Travel Allowance: $20/day


Transportation: Bussing provided by Teck Coal from Elkford to the Fording River Operations site. Fording River Operations is located approximately 29 kilometres northeast of the community of Elkford.


No CAMP IS PROVIDED. Employees are required to find their own accommodations.


All employees are required to sign an averaging agreement which means that overtime will only be paid if you work over your regularly scheduled shift of 12 hours


  • Preventative Maintenance and servicing of all equipment
  • Check equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Trouble shooting systems– example hydraulic, electrical & mechanical of all equipment and determine faults and extent of repair
  • Major overhauls on equipment as required
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
  • Component rebuilds
  • Mobilization of equipment for different applications
  • Develop work scopes and schedules for equipment to be repaired
  • Order parts for the servicing, and rebuild of equipment as required
  • Assist Foreman in day to day operations
  • Fill in when foreman is away if designated lead
  • Complete reports and fill out work orders when required
  • Teach and evaluate apprentices and HD Mechanics
  • Follow NACG codes of practice and safety procedures
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction


  • Class 5 licence
  • Red Seal Journeyman ticket
  • Current CVIP/Picker inspection
  • $5 million insurance
  • Must be familiar with troubleshooting/diagnostic procedures such as SIS, ET, DREX.
