Position Scope

NACG is looking for the following positions:

 

  • Haul Truck Operator
  • Dozer Operator
  • Excavator Operator
  • Grader Operator
  • Articulating Truck Operator
  • Ticketed Heavy Duty Mechanic (HET)

Accommodations: Site dependent

Transportation: Bussing provided from Fort McMurray to site (before and after shifts)

Overtime: Provided after 8 hours a day or 44 hours a week

Shifts: Various Shifts Available (14x7, 10x4, 14x14)

Responsibilities

Haul Truck Operator

  • Operation of a 777/793 Haul Trucks

Dozer Operator

  • Operation of a D8-D11 Dozer

  • Overburden bulk dirt moving

Excavator Operator

  • Operation of an Excavator
  • Loading mine haul trucks

 

Grader Operator

  • Operation of a 16/24 Grader

Articulating Truck Operator

  • Operation of an Articulating Truck

Ticketed Off-Road Mechanic (HET)

  • Diagnose and repair equipment performance issues, up to and including component change outs.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance inspections (PM’s) and running repairs on a variety of Off Road equipment.
  • List of equipment includes:
    • Rigid Frame Haul trucks (Cat and Komatsu)
    • Articulated Haul Trucks (Cat, Volvo, Deere, Komatsu)
    • Dozers (Cat and Deere)
    • Excavators/Shovels (Hitachi, Cat, Deere, Komatsu)
    • Graders (Cat)

Qualifications

Haul Truck Operator

  • 1 years' experience operating a Haul Truck (777, 785 & 793's)
  • 2 years' experience in amine/industrial environment

 

Dozer Operator

  • Experience on D8-D10

  • Experience in Overburden bulk dirt moving

Excavator Operator

  • Minimum of 5 years experience working as an Excavator Operator loading mine haul trucks

 

Grader Operator

  • Minimum 1 Years' experience operating 16/24 Grader
  • Must be able to read grade stakes and be familiar with GPS. 

 

Articulating Truck Operator

  • 1 year experience operating an Articulating Truck
  • Other equipment experience an asset (Loader, and/or Drum Packer)

Ticketed Off-Road Mechanic (HET)

  • A valid Alberta Trade Ticket (Off Road) Certificate or an Interprovincial Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Off Road).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience post trade ticket certification on large Haul Trucks/Dozers/Graders and Excavators.
  • Possess excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and abilities.
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibit professional work behaviors.
  • Committed to continuous learning.
  • Experience with Cat SIS is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction.

Summary

All successful candidates must:

  1. Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  2. Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  3. Have experience as requested as mentioned above
  4. Subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
  5. Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
    • Breath Alcohol Test
    • Urine Drug Test
    • Fitness-to-Work Assessment
    • Audiometric Testing
    • Vision Screening
    • Criminal Record Check

Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.

All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:

  1. CSO Certification
  2. Copy of Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  3. Copy of recent Driver’s Abstract
  4. VOID cheque/direct deposit form
  5. Select tickets will be required dependant on the appropriate site (E.g. Silica Awareness, Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness, Wildlife Awareness including Bear Awareness and/or OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness) All tickets including the CSO ticket are obtained through Energy Safety Canada

Once dispatched the following processes will occur:

  1. Will receive a call from NACG to set up all required pre-employment testing
  2. An email will be sent with all required New Hire Paperwork to be filled out
  3. After all results are received by NACG candidates will be contacted by Site Admin to schedule orientation and confirm your start date and other site specific details.

Please note the entire On-boarding process can take anywhere from 3-8 business days.
